: If a man set a clock right at 9 a.m. The clock gains 10 minutes in 24 hours. What will be the true time when the clock indicates 2 p.m. on the following day?
Answer
Solution
Time from 9 a.m. on a day to 2 p.m. on the following day is 29 hours or 29 * 60 min or 1740 min.
24 hrs. 10 min. i.e. (24 * 60 + 10) min. of this clock are the same as 24 * 60 minutes Of the correct clock.
=> 1 min of the clock = 1440/1450 of the correct clock
=> 1740 mins. of the clock = 1740 * ( 1440 / 1450 ) min
=> 1740 mins. of the clock = 1728 min = 28 hours 48 mins.
So, the correct time is 28 hrs. 48 min. after 9 a.m. or 48 min. past 1p.m.
